The Zimbabwe Farmers Union has welcomed the government’s decision to exempt productive and fully utilised farms from the soon to be rolled out farm downsizing programme.
Speaking to Great Dyke News’ Juliet Muzivi, Zimbabwe Farmers Union President Paul Zachariah said, the union is in support of the government’s move to improve production.
Addressing the media this week finance minister Professor Mthuli Ncube indicated that all productive farms will be exempted from the downsizing programme until all under-utilized agricultural land under multiple farm ownership has become productive.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently launched the 2020-2025 Agriculture and Food systems transformation strategy at the 8th Annual National Agri-Business Conference in Harare. The plan seeks to achieve a US$8.2 billion Agriculture Economy by 2025.
