Danai Majaha, the Communications Manager for ZimTrade, emphasized the significance of Expo 2025, calling it “a business world cup,” where countries from around the globe will have the chance to highlight their innovations and engage in economic diplomacy. Majaha spoke exclusively to Great Dyke News, sharing that the expo’s theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” aligns perfectly with Zimbabwe’s ambition to redefine its place in the global market.
“We see Expo 2025 as an essential platform for showcasing Zimbabwe’s innovations, attracting global investments, and establishing international partnerships,” Majaha said. “This expo is not only about presenting products but also about telling our story, dispelling myths, and showing the world our commitment to economic growth and global connectivity.”
The Expo, officially named “Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan,” is expected to draw around 28 million visitors and more than 150 countries and 25 international organizations. Held on Yumeshima Island in Osaka Bay, the event will focus on three sub-themes: “Saving Lives,” “Empowering Lives,” and “Connecting Lives,” which align with Zimbabwe’s aspirations for technological advancements, healthcare innovation, and sustainable development.
Majaha explained that Zimbabwe plans to spotlight its agriculture, mining, and renewable energy sectors, which have shown substantial growth despite challenging global economic conditions. Historically, World Expos have served as vital platforms for technological and cultural exchange. The 1970 Expo in Osaka set a record with over 64 million visitors, marking the first time Asia hosted such a global event. Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan, attracted 22 million attendees and focused on environmental sustainability—a theme that will resonate at Expo 2025, given the growing importance of sustainable business practices worldwide.
