The annual festive season shopping extravaganza known as the “Black Friday” has gained traction as consumers worldwide take advantage of the massive price reductions on the day.
Ironically, the origin of Black Friday makes sad reading for many around the globe. The day earned its name in the United States of America where the last Friday of November each year was set aside for discount sale of black slaves.
For Zimbabweans weary of an economy that slid down 6.5 percent in 2019, the history of the month may not mean much. All that the consumers want is a bit of a smile ahead of the festive season.
