The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of Takudzwa Gadzira (25) in connection with a fatal stabbing incident at a butchery near Runwave Service Station, Southlea Park, Harare. The incident, which occurred on October 19, involved a scuffle over a girlfriend, resulting in the death of 29-year-old David Nyaudzani.
According to police reports, Gadzira allegedly stabbed Nyaudzani once in the chest with a butcher’s knife. The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
In a separate incident on the same day, police in Matobo arrested 72-year-old Gibson Ndlovu following a deadly altercation at his home in Tombo Village. The confrontation occurred at around 3:00 AM when Ndlovu’s neighbor, Mncedisi Ndebele (39), reportedly confronted him with a machete, accusing him of encroaching into his yard.
During the struggle, Ndlovu was struck on the left hand but managed to disarm Ndebele and retaliated by striking him multiple times with the machete. Ndlovu later dumped the victim’s body on a rockery within his yard. The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for post-mortem.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
