The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of Zimbabwe has reiterated its dedication to combating corruption as the country joined the world in marking International Anti-Corruption Day yesterday.

Speaking at a commemorative event, Acting Chief Public Prosecutor for Harare South Province, Mr. Tafara Chirambira, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in eradicating corruption, which continues to undermine public trust and economic progress.

In his address, Mr. Chirambira said, “The fight against corruption requires unwavering commitment and the active participation of all stakeholders to ensure justice prevails.”

International Anti-Corruption Day, observed annually on December 9, serves as a global reminder of the need to tackle corruption in all its forms. The event traces its origins to the adoption of the United Nations Convention against Corruption on October 31, 2003, which has since been a framework for raising public awareness and strengthening anti-corruption measures worldwide.

This year’s commemorations focused on fostering accountability and transparency across public and private sectors. In Zimbabwe, the NPA has prioritized investigating and prosecuting corruption cases to uphold the principles of justice and fairness.
