Dzivarasekwa legislator, Edwin Mushoriwa, has strongly criticized the absenteeism of ministers in the National Assembly, describing it as a disturbing trend that undermines parliamentary accountability.
Speaking during a recent parliamentary session, Mushoriwa expressed his frustration over the consistent failure of ministers to attend and answer questions in the House.
Mushoriwa said his remarks follow a pattern of ministerial no-shows that have become all too common in recent sessions, leaving many parliamentary sessions devoid of critical answers to pressing questions.
The Dzivarasekwa lawmaker suggested that if this trend continues, he may take drastic measures – including inviting the President to Parliament to address these concerns directly.
He added that if ministers are not willing to take their jobs seriously, then the President needs to come and explain why this is happening and what he plans to do about it,” he said.
The call for presidential intervention comes amidst mounting frustration from other lawmakers and the public over the lack of ministerial accountability.
