A 39-year-old man from Makwika Village, Hwange, has been sentenced to 103 hours of community service after being convicted of malicious damage to property.
Edmore Muleya was found guilty by the Hwange Magistrates’ Court for an incident that occurred on January 26, 2025, at around 9:00 PM. According to court records, Muleya threw stones at his neighbor Siphatihisiwe Mathe’s house, causing extensive damage.
The attack resulted in the destruction of 14 asbestos sheets, a grey deep freezer, a green bucket, and a door, with total damages amounting to US$614. At the time of the attack, Mathe was inside her house praying. She reported the incident to the police, leading to Muleya’s swift arrest.
The court ruled that Muleya must complete 103 hours of community service as punishment.
