A Mimosa employee died in an accident at the mine yesterday.
In a statement Mimosa said it was with deep regret that they announced the death of the Stephen Chizola, a Face Preparation Supervisor.
”On Tuesday the 24th of March 2020, Stephen Chizola (41) was barring down in 36 Level North when a rock fell and seriously injured him in the process.
First aid was promptly administered and Stephen was evacuated from underground. Unfortunately, he passed on upon admission at the mine clinic, ” the statement said.
Chizola who started working for Mimosa on the 29th of August last year, leaves behind four children.
Mimosa extended their sincere condolences to the Chizola family and said, ”a full investigation is now underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident,” the statement reads.
