Buy Zimbabwe in partnership with Y2K Promotions will be hosting the inaugural Made in Zimbabwe Expo in the United Kingdom on August 26, 2023, at the Nelson Mandela Park in Leicester.
The event will be held concurrently with the Africa Music Festival UK 2023, where some of Zimbabwe’s prominent artists such as Winky D and Jah Prayzah will perform.
In an interview with Great Dyke News 24, Buy Zimbabwe General Manager Alois Burutsa said the expo is expected to attract over 10,000 people, including Zimbabweans living in the UK and visitors from other countries with the goal to showcase the quality of products that are made in Zimbabwe and to encourage Zimbabweans in the diaspora to continue supporting local businesses.
“Buy Zimbabwe will be hosting the inaugural Made in Zimbabwe Expo in UK in partnership with Y2K promotions on the 26th of August 2023 at the Nelson Mandela Park in Leicester, United Kingdom.
“This will be running concurrently with the Africa Music Festival UK 2023 where perfoming artists would include Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Mambo Dhuterere, Selmor Mtukudzi among others. We expect over 10 000 people to attend this event.
“As Buy Zimbabwe we have decided to reach out to Zimbabweans living in the diaspora to inform and remind them of the companies that are manufacturing quality products in Zimbabwe.
“We also want to encourage the diasporans to continue supporting local companies even when they have relocated to other countries as this will help in the creation of wealth and saving of jobs in the country of their birth,” he said.
He added “It is estimated that over 700 000 Zimbabweans are living and working in the UK and they remit over US$ 1 billion into Zimbabwe every year.
“Therefore, we are calling on Zimbabwean companies that are manufacturing in Zimbabwe, that are making quality goods in Zimbabwe who would want to be a part of this expo to get in touch with Buy Zimbabwe to book and get registered so that they can tap into this huge market of Zimbabweans that are based in the UK.”
The Buy Zim Expo is a key part of Buy Zimbabwe’s strategy to promote Zimbabwean businesses to the world. The expo will provide Zimbabwean businesses with the opportunity to meet with potential buyers, learn about European markets, and network with other Zimbabwean businesses in the diaspora.
