Cabinet Bans Riverbed Mining Amid Environmental Concerns.

Government has issued an immediate ban on riverbed mining across Zimbabwe. This decision follows reports of significant environmental degradation, including water pollution and disruption of river ecosystems, caused by mechanical alluvial mining since 2011. 

Speaking at a post cabinet briefing, Media, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere said the government is taking steps to rehabilitate the affected rivers and ensure sustainable mining practices.
