The Executive Director of CAES, Martin Zharare, has urged Zimbabweans to unite in the fight to remove the sanctions, which he believes hinder the country’s economy and overall growth and development.

Mr Zharare further alleged that the Western powers behind the imposition of the economic sanctions aim to cripple Zimbabwe’s productivity and cause disharmony between the people and their government.

Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) held an awareness meeting on Saturday at Chiedza Hall in Zvishavane, aimed at educating community representatives on the adverse effects of economic sanctions and equipping them with information to educate their communities.

During the meeting, Mr Zharare also read out the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (ZIDERA) of 2001, the law that placed the Zimbabwean government under a credit freeze.
