The Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe (CoMZ) successfully kicked off its 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking the start of an anticipated and insightful conference week.

CoMZ President, Mr. Thomas Gono, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s proceedings. “Our AGM went very well. We had a significant turnout, exceeding the two-thirds majority required. Additionally, we welcomed new members from diverse sectors including gold, platinum group metals, and lithium. This reflects growing confidence in the Chamber and we expect to see continued growth in our membership. We are looking forward to a productive conference starting tomorrow,” Gono stated.

The first day of the AGM was dedicated to traditional constitutional meetings, encompassing the annual general meeting and council meetings focused on internal governance issues within the mining industry.

The second day of the conference will highlight two major symposiums, with the Critical Minerals Symposium at the forefront. This symposium will explore the global production and markets of critical minerals, essential for advancing clean energy technologies. Honorable Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Winston Chitando, will attend as the guest of honour. A keynote address by a representative from SFA Oxford will provide valuable insights into global critical mineral markets.
