The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 208 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances.

The total number of cases has risen to 1,274,022; the total number of deaths is at 64,734 world over and a total of 264,807 people have recovered from the virus. Italy still recorded the highest number of deaths of 15,887 and Spain is closely following with 12,641 people dying. 

South Africa now has 1,655 total cases and 11 deaths while Zimbabwean stats remain unchanged. 

Tiger at US Zoo tests positive for coronavirus

A four year old female Malayan tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for the coronavirus. The tiger is believed to be the first known case of an animal infected by a human with Covid-19.The Bronx Zoo, in New York City, says the test result was confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Lab in Iowa.

The Zoo was quoted saying their cats were infected by a person carrying for them who is asymptomatically infected with the virus or before that person developed symptoms. This case is being described as unusual because coronavirus transmissions from humans to animals have been rare and not well understood.

Quarantined Italian village turned into a human laboratory

Last week the village of Nerola was suddenly declared a red zone, after a dozens of coronavirus cases were discovered. It has been sealed off by the army and everyone who lives there put into quarantine. Now medical researchers are testing the entire population, in the hope they learn more about the virus. 

Mzari Clinic and Ekusileni handed over for Covid-19

The Chinhoyi Municipality has handed over its state of the art Mzari Clinic to the Ministry of Health and Child Care use as the Covid-19 Isolation center. The Clinic located in the Mzari low density suburb is fairly new and is probably the best of the council run health centers.

Meanwhile in Bulawayo, Ekusileni medical center has been set up as an isolation center in the province. The medical center has been closed for close to two deceased with numerous attempts to open it being in vain. The government is working on establishing 67 isolation centers throughout the country as it seeks to curb the spread of covid-19.
