Torrential rains in Zvishavane have caused significant flooding, disrupting daily life and posing challenges for residents, drivers, and students.
Floodwaters have carried debris into bridges, blocking drainage and forcing water mixed with sewage onto roads. The situation has particularly affected Ireland Road, used by students at Kandodo Primary School, sparking concerns from residents.

“We appreciate the rain but need bridges where heavy water flows make crossing difficult,” said a Kandodo resident.
Zvishavane Town Council Chairman ,Takarangana Keta, acknowledged the challenges and said the council has prioritized road rehabilitation and bridge construction under an emergency program.

“Drainage clearance is ongoing, and repairs will be fully addressed after the rainy season when funding becomes available,” Keta said.
