FC Platinum defensive stalwart Lawrence Mhlanga has challenged his teammates to believe in themselves ahead of the crunch match against Sudanese champions Al-Hilal in Omdurman tomorrow evening.

Mhlanga, says the team has reflected on the performances of the previous campaign and focused on the positives.

“We need to change our mentality and start playing with confidence”, he said

“This game is totally different from the ones we have already played. This is a team that’s in a similar position as us, so there is no favourite and we are not an underdog.

“We have to grab the opportunity with both hands and go for a positive result.”

FC Platinum players were accused of giving too much respect to the opposition players and failure to express themselves fully in previous CAF mini-league group games.

Mhlanga believes the team needs to continue playing for one another, to solidify their defence and offer more creativity in attack.

“We have recognised that we did not get enough action going forward in our last games,” he added.

“It is important for our midfielders to support our attack and create chances for our strikers.

This is not an individual game, we need to play together as a team,” he said.

Meanwhile, the last consignment of the team’s missing luggage arrived in the morning and the coaches will in the evening conduct their last training session at the match venue, ahead of the game against Al Hilal at 2100hrs tomorrow.
