Nominations for the inaugural Great Dyke Mining and Agriculture Awards will remain open until the 17th of February 2021. The awards which reward excellence and promote growth are slated for the 25th of February 2021.

The Minister of Local Government and Public Works Honourable July Moyo is the Guest of Honour at the event which is virtual due to concerns around covid-19.

Patience Tsikira-Chikombero, Head of Events at Mejrkh Communications and Media Advisory which runs Great Dyke TV, an online television portal that has entered into partnership with YAFM radio station to host the awards said they have received a good response from the market and some corporatesare finalising their entries ahead of the submission deadline.

“A number of companies are interested in participating in the awards and are in the process of compiling information and filling the nomination forms, so we are encouraging them to complete the process before the deadline to ensure they don’t miss out on the opportunity of landing one of the coveted prizes on offer,” she said.

Tsikira-Chikombero urged interested sponsors to grab the available opportunities before the partnership window closes.

“I’m glad to say a number of sponsors have come on board and some are finalising internal processes needed to partner us in the awards. There is still room for prospective partners to enter into mutually beneficial partnerships driven by the desire to promote business excellence and growth in the Great Dyke,” she said.

The awards promote excellence and aim to unlock the growth potential in mining and agricultural companies operating in the mineral rich geological complex called the Great Dyke, which trends from north to south for over 500 kilometres.

The awards were introduced after observing that there are no dedicated accolades for mining and agricultural entities operating in the Great Dyke and as a way to stimulate growth and achieve higher production. Ten categories are on offer as listed below:1. Gold Buyer of the Year2. Business Person of the Year3. Small Scale Miner of the Year4. Mining Equipment Supplier of the Year5. CSR Award of the Year6. Mining Consumable Supplier of the Year7. Healthy and Safety Award of the Year 8. Financial Service Provider of the Year9. Small Scale Agro Producer of the Year10. Large Scale Agro Producer of the Year

The awards will be streamed on Great Dyke TV, YAFM, Slymedia, Zimeye and 263 Chat Facebook pages.
