In the wake of Zimbabwe’s recent elections, characterized by controversy and diverging opinions on their fairness, it is crucial to remember that politics is merely a game that often divides us.

However, as brothers and sisters, we must rise above these divisions and focus on what truly matters: our shared aspirations for a better future.

Zimbabwe stands at a critical juncture, with urban areas expressing frustration and anger over the perceived flaws in the electoral process. The lack of jobs, economic challenges, and various other urban issues have fuelled discontent among the youth.

On the other hand, rural areas, farms, and mining communities, benefiting from existing government systems, have shown support for the ruling party. This stark contrast reflected in voting patterns has further deepened the divide among Zimbabweans.

As a journalist, it is my duty to remind fellow Zimbabwean youths that politics, much like a football match, is a realm where different views and loyalties collide. However, when the final whistle is blown, we must return to our everyday lives, striving to put food on the table and build prosperous futures for ourselves and our families.

Let us not forget that we are all on the same team, a team that seeks progress, unity, and a brighter tomorrow. It is essential to realise that violence and animosity will only hinder our collective development. Instead, let us channel our energy into constructive dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and holding our leaders accountable for their actions.

We must remember that politicians, like players on a field, have their own agendas and strategies. However, it is up to us, the youth of Zimbabwe, to rise above their gamesmanship and demand transparency and accountability from our elected representatives. By doing so, we can bridge the urban-rural divide and work towards a more inclusive society.

Zimbabwe’s youth, regardless of their political affiliations, face common challenges that transcend party lines. Issues such as unemployment, economic hardships, and limited opportunities affect us all. It is crucial to recognise that our collective strength lies in unity.

By setting aside our differences and working together, we can generate greater impact and bring about positive change.
