Three men have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for vandalizing and stealing electricity infrastructure in Banket. Tinotenda Nzou (20), Anyway Mwanza (35), and Garikai Masiri (25) were convicted by the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court for cutting and stealing a 50m x 50mm x 4-core armored cable on December 16, 2024.

The cable powered a water pump on Gwinha Farm, and its theft disrupted electricity supply. The trio was convicted under Section 60A(3)(b) of the Electricity Act, which criminalizes damaging or interfering with electricity infrastructure.
