Triumphant Triumph: Mberengwa and Zvishavane Districts Exceed Polio Vaccination Targets!

Health authorites in Zvishavane and Mberengwa have commended the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s proactive approach in organizing the nationwide Polio vaccination program. The initiative, which aimed to immunize children against the Polio virus, has garnered positive feedback from health authorities in Mberengwa and Zvishavane districts.

In a recent interview with Great Dyke News, Mberengwa District Coordinator Vasias Hlavati said the turnout of parents seeking vaccination for their children during the second and booster vaccination rounds at the end of this month has been particularly impressive. He expressed gratitude for the community’s active participation in ensuring the health and well-being of their young ones.Both districts have achieved remarkable milestones in terms of reaching the targeted population.

Mberengwa District, in particular, exceeded expectations by vaccinating fifty-nine thousand and ninety-four children, surpassing the target by a significant margin of one hundred and seventeen percent.

Similarly, Zvishavane District demonstrated commendable efforts in reaching children below the age of ten, surpassing the targeted population by seven percent.

The Polio vaccination campaign was initiated by the government in response to the detection of the Polio variant in Sanyati and Harare earlier this year.

Rumbidzai Chikwanha, the Health Promotional Officer in Zvishavane, emphasized the importance of continued vigilance by parents in ensuring their children receive re-immunization doses against Polio.
