TelOne ended their two-game losing streak by holding Chicken Inn to a draw in a fiercely contested match at Bata Stadium yesterday.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas praised his team but felt they missed out on a win.
“We played well against a TelOne side boosted by their new coach. When new coaches come in, players raise their game, and that’s what happened today. We dominated the second half, moved the ball quicker, and I feel it was two points dropped. But an away point isn’t too bad. We just need to dust ourselves off and prepare for the next game.”
TelOne’s newly appointed coach Herbert Maruwa, marking his first points in his debut home game, expressed satisfaction with the result.
“I’m very happy with the game. We trained together for only two days, but the boys showed great spirit and resilience. Coming off two big defeats, it was encouraging to see the support and effort from the team.”
Elsewhere, FC Platinum returned to the top of the table, at least temporarily, despite a 1-1 draw against the “Miracle Boys” Yadah in Harare. Juan Mutudza scored for the Platinum Miners in the 77th minute, but Khama Billiat’s late equalizer secured a crucial point for Yadah.
At Barbourfields Stadium, CAPS United had to come from behind to draw 1-1 against the “Ninjas” Bulawayo Chiefs. Chiefs took an early lead through the on-fire Never Rauzhi, while the Green Machine equalized in the second half courtesy of Wilfred Manondo’s effort.
In the Great Dyke Derby, Ngezi Platinum triumphed over Chegutu Pirates with a 1-2 victory.
In Shamva, Simba Bhora and the “College Boys” Herentals played out a goalless draw, as did Green Fuel and Bikita Minerals.
At the Colliery, Hwange and ZPC Kariba also shared the spoils in a nil-all stalemate.
