The Young Miners Foundation (YMF) is urging small-scale miners to formalize their operations and treat mining as a business, not just a way of survival.

Speaking at the YMF’s Field Day in Mberengwa, CEO Payne Farai Kupfuwa said that formalizing their operations would help young miners grow their businesses and contribute more to the economy.

The YMF Field Day was held on June 16 at Clifton 15 Gold Mine, Vanguard in Mberengwa. The event also coincided with the YMF’s 13th-anniversary commemorations and awards.

Kupfuwa said that the YMF is committed to decentralizing its operations and providing support to young miners across the country.

The YMF is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2009 to promote the development of small-scale mining in Zimbabwe. The organization provides training, mentorship, and financial assistance to young miners.

The YMF’s Field Day is an annual event that brings together young miners from across the country to share ideas and learn from each other. The event also includes awards for outstanding young miners.
