In an interview with Great Dyke News, Justice Chinhema, the Union’s Secretary-General, underscored the need for stringent measures against large mining operations engaging in illegal activities. He particularly pointed to the Penhalonga incident, where 15 miners were trapped for several days, as a crucial lesson that should not be overlooked.


Chinhema further emphasized the importance of educating and training artisanal miners in safe mining practices. He stressed the necessity of adhering to safety standards to ensure the well-being of workers in the mining sector.
