Zimbabwe Teachers Association Raises Alarms Over Education Concerns Amid School Resumption

Subsequent to the resumption of school for the 1st academic term of 2024 on Tuesday, the Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA), has expressed concerns about the state of education.


Goodwill Taderera, ZIMTA’s general secretary, highlighted teachers’ dissatisfaction with their salaries and parents’ discontent regarding the financial burden of education.

Taderera urged the government to address these long-standing issues, emphasizing that promises made to improve conditions have remained unfulfilled for an extended period.

In an interview the Ministry of Education’s spokesperson, Taungana Ndoro, the ministry is content with the current school environment and indicated that all schools reopened without incident.
