Support for the Buy Zimbabwe Week campaign has surged among Zimbabweans, heralding it as a crucial initiative to bolster the competitiveness of local products both domestically and globally.
Customers at TM Pick n Pay Machipisa in Harare expressed a strong preference for local goods, citing their perceived health benefits and organic nature in comparison to imported alternatives.
Munyaradzi Hwengwere, Chairman of Buy Zimbabwe, hailed the 2023 campaign as a resounding success. He highlighted a notable shift in the economy towards import substitution and increased patronage of locally manufactured goods, indicating significant progress.
Running from November 27th to December 1st, 2023, the Buy Zimbabwe Week operated under the theme ‘Defend and Grow Zimbabwean Products.’ Notable participants included wholesalers and retailers such as N Richards, Gain Cash and Carry, Mahomed Mussa, Pick n Pay, Spar, OK Zimbabwe, TV Sales and Home, Teecherz Home and Office, and Bata.
