Zimbabwe’s leading platinum group metal producer, Zimplats, has reported a 4% growth in production for the quarter ending December 31, 2023. The boost is attributed to successful pillar reclamation operations at Rukodzi Mine and ongoing production scaling at Mupani Mine. Ore mined reached 1,995,000 tonnes during the quarter, up from 1,968,000 in the previous quarter and 1,915,000 in the same period in 2022.

Despite stable ore milling rates, the 6E head grade increased by 1%, driven by augmented tonnes from pillar reclamation.

However, a scheduled furnace shutdown led to a 1% decline in 6E metal in the final product for the quarter. Nevertheless, metal volumes saw a 1% year-on-year increase, benefiting from improved recoveries.
