Police in Zhombe are searching for two brothers, Noel Mwale and Mkhululi Mwale, in connection with the alleged murder of their friend during a beer-drinking spree at Dzimiri Business Centre on December 2, 2024.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the deceased, identified as Philani Sibanda (21) of Mudzingwa Village under Chief Malisa, reportedly died following a violent altercation with the two suspects.
According to preliminary investigations, the trio was drinking beer together at the business center when a misunderstanding erupted, escalating into a fatal confrontation. It is alleged that Noel and Mkhululi Mwale attacked Sibanda with an axe and a knife, leaving him dead on the spot.
After committing the crime, the brothers reportedly fled the scene and have not been seen since.
Police have appealed to the public for assistance in locating the suspects, urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward.
“We are keen to establish the full circumstances surrounding this murder and ensure the prosecution of anyone involved in the commission of this offence,” said a police spokesperson.
