A tragic road traffic accident occurred on December 12, 2024, resulting in the death of one person.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, ZRP Midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Anymore Sunday (34) was riding a motorbike along B-Mine road in village Mahlangu, under Chief Samambwa in Zhombe, when he collided with an animal-drawn scotchcart near the Mlondiwa homestead.
The individuals driving the scotchcart fled the scene, leaving behind the cart and animals. Sunday succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
In a separate incident on the same day, another fatal accident took place in Shurugwi around 5:00 PM.
Inspector Mahoko said Webster Sibanda (29) from Mkoba 12, Gweru, was driving a Subaru motor vehicle along the Gweru-Shurugwi Road when he lost control and overturned at the 32km peg.
Sibanda died on the spot while his two passengers escaped without injuries.
