Twenty-four people died this morning when an Urban Connect bus collided head-on with a commercial truck at the Lutumba tollgate along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.
Beitbridge District Medical Officer , Dr. Lenos Samhere, confirmed that 17 died on the spot, while seven succumbed to injuries in hospital. Over 30 people were hospitalized, with 12 in critical condition.
The truck, carrying 34 tonnes of magnesium, was Chirundu-bound, while the bus was heading to Beitbridge.
