Zvishavane came to a standstill today as police, civil society, and media united for a high-energy roadshow against gender-based violence.
The campaign, led by Zimbabwe Republic Police Zvishavane in partnership with YA FM, Women Coalition of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Gender Commission, and Four Girls Focus, saw a vibrant procession move through town spreading messages of equality, respect, and zero tolerance to abuse.
Speakers at various stops emphasised the urgent need to build a community where everyone feels safe and respected. Sergeant Mupinga of the ZRP delivered a strong message, urging victims of abuse not to suffer in silence and encouraging residents to report all cases of violence.
He assured the public that the police remain committed to protecting citizens and taking action against perpetrators.
Organisers also highlighted the importance of empowering women, noting that communities thrive when women are given equal opportunities and treated with dignity.
The joint effort by law enforcement, advocacy groups, and the media sent a clear message — gender-based violence has no place in Zvishavane.
The roadshow concluded with a united call for residents to stand together, speak out, and play their part in ending abuse and building a safer, more inclusive community.
