Zanu-PF committee member and war veteran Blessed Geza, has stirred controversy with a public statement warning Police Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba against using force against demonstrators.
Geza emphasized that the right to protest should not be met with violence and urged Mutamba to stay clear of the ongoing tension between war veterans and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
However, Zanu-PF Public Relations Officer , Farai Marapira, this week labelled Geza’s remarks as acts of indiscipline. Marapira emphasized that such conduct was unacceptable for a party member of Geza’s standing, stating that the party would take appropriate disciplinary action in line with its rules.
In a related development, Zanu-PF Mashonaland West province this week unanimously recommended the expulsion of Geza from the party. This move follows his outspoken criticism of President Mnangagwa. The War Veterans League also condemned Geza, accusing him of undermining the party and attacking the president.
