Ghana’s former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has been declared a fugitive by prosecutors for alleged corruption during his tenure.
Ofori-Atta, 66, left the country in early January to avoid investigations, including a controversial national cathedral project that reportedly wasted $58 million. Despite being named a suspect, he failed to attend an interview with the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
President John Mahama, who took office in January, has launched an investigative committee to recover over $20 billion in alleged corruption funds, though some have criticized him for halting cases involving former allies.
