Israeli forces have entered Lebanon in what the Israeli military describes as a “limited, localized, and targeted” ground operation against Hezbollah.
An Israeli security official told the BBC on Tuesday morning that the troops had only advanced a short distance and that no clashes had been reported yet. However, tensions continue to rise, with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati warning that his country is facing “one of its most dangerous phases” in recent history, as over a million people are now displaced.
Israeli air strikes continue to batter Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed hitting targets in Beirut, while Lebanese officials reported that a building in a Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon was also struck.
Lebanon’s death toll has surpassed 1,000 in the past two weeks, with the number of displaced civilians rapidly approaching one million. The situation remains volatile, with humanitarian concerns mounting amidst the ongoing conflict.
