Five men have been handed 105 hours of community service each after getting busted for smuggling goods at the Chirundu Border Post. The quintet, consisting of Tapera Kafombori (34), Anyway Mutakose (24), Salimu Libhermen (24), Chagwangwa Wonder (21), and Phiri Archford (31), was caught red-handed.
The court was told that on 25th January 2025, law enforcement officers pounced on two vehicles – a Toyota Hiace and a Nissan Caravan – near the Chirundu dumpsite. Inside, they found 541.3 kg of new and second-hand clothes, valued at ZWL 80,484.78, being smuggled across the border without paying the required duties.
ZIMRA seized the vehicles and the goods.
