A 27-year-old man, Timothy Madzimure, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of culpable homicide by the High Court sitting in Gweru.
The conviction follows the tragic death of 33-year-old Tongai Vhurudzai, who succumbed to stab wounds inflicted during a heated altercation over a dog bite in Daylesford, Gweru, on August 26, 2024.
According to court findings, Madzimure stabbed Vhurudzai on the thighs during the dispute. The injured victim attempted to flee but later collapsed in a nearby maize field, where he was found dead. A post-mortem conducted at United Bulawayo Hospitals revealed that Vhurudzai died due to cardiac failure and hemorrhagic shock caused by severed femoral vessels.
Authorities confirmed that the murder weapon was recovered from Madzimure, leading to his subsequent arrest and trial.
