Palawani Lakeworld Resort has been commended for embracing the national vision of turning dams into thriving economic hubs through its innovative fish farming and recreational projects.
Speaking at a joint celebration for Ya FM’s 9th anniversary and Palawani’s 3rd anniversary on Saturday, Lands, Agriculture, Water, and Rural Development Minister, Dr. Anxious Masuka, praised the resort for its contributions, particularly the cage fish farming project. He noted that Palawani’s efforts were aligned with the government’s ‘Dam Being an Economy’ initiative, which aims to turn water bodies into engines for local development.
“Palawani is a shining example of how dams can support economic activities, from fish farming to recreation and team-building facilities,” Dr. Masuka remarked.
While Palawani Dam is not suitable for power generation, Dr. Masuka revealed that plans are underway to introduce solar energy projects once village business units are fully established.
The resort continues to contribute to the local economy, promoting sustainable practices while offering leisure activities that attract visitors from across the region.
