The Zimbabwe Republic Police has nabbed a sextet connected to a string of robberies and break-ins around Harare. The suspects – Richmore Munhundiyani (42), Ropafadzo Bhero (24), Maxwell Tinarwo (60), James Mucheri (43), Francis Alfandika (46), and Fungai Sithole (42) – were rounded up after a tip-off from the public.
The breakthrough came after police got wind that Munhundiyani had sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. Following up on this lead, officers swooped in on him at Forward Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza. Turns out, Munhundiyani was shot by his own crew during a heist near Dema Tollgate, Seke. His cooperation with authorities led to the bust of the remaining suspects on 9th February.
The haul included a 0.38mm Smith and Wesson revolver with six live rounds, two plasma TVs, solar panels, gas stoves, a car battery, and even a car radio. The crew is linked to several robberies, including a high-profile heist in Mangwende Village, Seke, where they made off with a king-size bed, solar panels, and four cellphones.
