In a significant development, the new Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Mining Development has been announced.
The committee is led by Honourable Remigious Matangira as the Chairperson.
The Mines Parly committee faces a pressing task as President Mnangagwa has given them approximately one year to conclude the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill HB 10 2022, which did not pass in the previous parliament.
This committee plays a pivotal role in shaping mining policies and legislation in Zimbabwe.
Key members retained in the committee include Hons Tichaona Karumazondo, Zhou Tafanana, Judith Tobaiwa, and Jasmine Toffa.
The committee’s responsibilities include examining government expenditure, considering bills referred to them, dealing with Appropriation of Money Bills, monitoring legislative programs, and handling international treaties relevant to their domain.
