Veteran goalkeeper Washington Arubi has called on fans to fill the stands and motivate the team ahead of Zimbabwe’s crucial return match against Namibia in the AFCON Qualifiers.
“We are looking forward to having fans at the stadium. The more the fans, the bigger the motivation,” said Arubi, emphasizing the importance of home support at Orlando Stadium.
Reflecting on Zimbabwe’s previous win against Namibia, Arubi credited the team for securing three points away from home, despite not performing to their full potential.
“It was a good outing, even though we didn’t play the way we really wanted. But at the end of the day, we managed to get the three points,” he said.
With the upcoming match in sight, Arubi stressed the need to stay focused and improve where necessary. “We’re analyzing areas to improve. The key is to manage the game well and not concede. If we close the gates at the back and get a goal, we will win,” he explained.
Arubi concluded with a rallying call to fans: “I’m calling on all fans to come out and support us. A full house at Orlando Stadium will push us to get the three points we need.”
