Green Governance has successfully launched its Natural Resource Governance focus, engaging with community members in Bikita, Zvishavane, and Mhondoro-Ngezi. The organization is committed to educating these communities about the critical role of data collection and analysis in shaping effective advocacy strategies and policy change recommendations.

Speaking to Great Dyke News in Masvingo last week, Brandon Chikomborero Mushipe, the Project Assistant Officer at Green Governance, expressed his satisfaction with the initial workshop. He noted the participants’ enthusiasm for incorporating data collection and analysis into their daily activities, particularly within the Lithium, Diamond, Platinum, and gold mining sectors.

During an interview on the sidelines of the workshop, a participant lauded the initiative as enlightening and potentially transformative for the lives of many young people in the mineral-rich mining communities of Zimbabwe. This positive feedback underscores the potential impact of Green Governance’s efforts in promoting responsible and informed practices in the mining industry.

Green Governance Zimbabwe Trust (GGZT) is a Zimbabwean organization dedicated to advocating for the comprehensive inclusion of communities in natural resource governance, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation. GGZT is committed to advancing people-centered public institutions that aim to consolidate and enhance the country’s natural resource sector for the well-being of local communities. The organization also advocates for strict adherence and compliance to statutes governing natural resources in Zimbabwe by all stakeholders involved in environment-related activities, utilizing methods such as awareness campaigns, public dialogue, and public interest litigation.
